On January 25, in Xiamen City, Taiwanese passenger Mr. Liao got through Customs inspection formalities at the “Customs Window for Duty Refund on Exit” located in Gaoqi International Airport, marking the formal implementation of duty refund on passenger exit fromXiamen.
Several days ago, Mr. Liao travelled inXiamenand bought one suitcase worth CNY5,922 from Paragon shopping mall. Informed of duty refund on exit, he asked the salesperson to issue him specific sale invoice and duty refund application form. Then at noon that day, Mr. Liao went to the “Customs Window for Duty Fund on Exit” with the aforesaid documents and his suitcase and, within 5 minutes, the Customs officers finished inspection and enabled Mr. Liao to get a refund of CNY651.42 for his buy.
As reminded by Xiamen Customs, external passengers who request the duty refund should, when buying duty-refundable commodities at duty-refundable shops, claim corresponding sale invoices and duty-refund application forms and should, on their exit from the Customs, actively declare to the officers by presenting the sale invoices, duty-refund applications, duty-refundable commodities, and their identity cards; if all those pass inspection, the officers will affix special seal to the application forms, thus enabling the passengers to get their refund from duty refunding agency.
