On December 6, 2017, Erenhot Customs House, an affiliate of Hohhot Customs seized a smuggling case of marmot skins.

On that day, the officers found 300 pieces of marmot skins in 25 bags concealed in the rear of an inward bus from Mongolia. This has been regarded as the largest smuggling case of rare animal products at the Erenhot port this year.

Currently, this case is pending further investigation.
