Shanghai Customs Quality Services Meet Spring Festival Demands of Enterprises & Residents
03/05/2016

During the Spring Festival, enterprises had urgent customs clearance demand, and residents wanted more commodities for the Festival. In order to guarantee smooth customs clearance, Shanghai Customs District took various measures and overtime work to serve enterprises for efficient clearance.

Help Import Fruits Timely Marketed

Before the Spring Festival, large quantities of fruits from abroad were ready to get into the Chinese market via Shanghai. On February 4 alone, Pujiang Customs House(affiliated to Shanghai Customs District) released 20 tons of fresh mangos from Peruworth over USD40,000. Earlier, the Customs also released totally 225 containers of cherries, weighing 3,956 tons worth CNY140 million.

In order to ensure that people can enjoy freshest imported fruits during the Spring Festival, Pujiang Customs House opened a "shopping basket" food import service window to provide booking service for noon and holidays to solve difficulties in customs clearance. The Customs set up a fast track for fruit clearance through measures such as advance declaration, reservation and guaranteed release, carried out door-to-door inspection and Customs-CIQ joint inspection, launched fresh port platform consignment trade mode to improve clearance efficiency and reduce clearance cost. In January 2016, the Customs received 1,304 consignments of import fruits worth USD79.01 million, increased by 163% and 170% month-on-month respectively.

Help Catch Outbound Flight

Shanghai Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export sent a letter of thanks to Shanghai Customs, saying that the Customs was thoughtful about what enterprises concern and that enterprises were grateful for their services, as the officers of Yangshan Customs House(affiliated to Shanghai Customs District) helped an enterprise with declaration and commodity classification in their spare time, making re-declaration timely finished, so as to make a batch of export commodities timely aboard an original flight, helping the enterprise keep its key account.

Facing the problems such as tight shipping space and tight schedule of export, Yangshan Customs House worked overtime to actual needs of enterprises and properly conducted reserved clearance for Maersk, China Shipping, Hanjin and Hyundai Merchant Marine during the Spring Festival.
