Recently in Yunnan Province, Kunming Customs-affiliated Mengla Customs seized a batch of endangered animal products from an inbound vehicle.
That day, Mengla Customs officers inspected one refrigerating vehicle coming from Laos and found 34 kilograms of wild turtle shells and 100 dried giant geckos in the cab.
The Customs reminds passengers that the entry of endangered wild animals/plants must be declared on the strength of the Import Permit issued by the Endangered Species Import and Export Management Office of China, and that wild giant geckos belong to China’s second-class protected animals that are banned from the entry via passengers.
