On November 7, Minister Yu Guangzhou met with Mr. Heng Swee Keat, Minister of Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Singapore in Singapore.

The two sides spoke positively of the international trade and customs cooperation between the two nations.

Minister Yu put forward five proposals on strengthening cooperation. Firstly, both sides should make joint efforts to service the alignment of the national development strategies of the two sides with drawing a blueprint for future cooperation, and provide strong support to the major connectivity cooperation projects along the Belt and Road. Secondly, the two Customs should realize more advanced and smoother customs procedures in the upgrade China-Singapore Free Trade Agreement negotiations to improve cooperation effectiveness. Thirdly, the cooperation in trade security and facilitation should be expanded and the two sides should make full use of international and domestic advantages to build a sound business environment. Fourthly, the coordination in multilateral affairs should be strengthened, in order to play a leading role in participating in China-ASEAN customs cooperation. Fifthly, both sides should coordinate their ideas, thoughts and methods with each other to realize a major breakthrough in the cooperation and coordination.

Mr. Heng Swee Keat agreed on the above proposals, and expressed the wish to form a working group to study details in cooperation program between the two customs.
