Hefei Customs Toughens Risk Control on Dangerous Chemicals
06/26/2020

On June 15, Hefei Customs officers visited a local company and made a field inspection on a batch of dangerous chemicals (p-phenylenediamine) to export. When finding inner packages of some chemicals damaged, the officers immediately made an emergency response, supervising the business to replace all damaged packages, so as to avoid any quality-safety accidents.

Since this year, Hefei Customs has been intensifying the inspection of dangerous chemicals and their packages to eliminate safety risks from the firms and workplaces concerned. For the manufacturers of dangerous chemicals, the Customs provides online consultation, video guidance and reservation services, online checking danger warning labels and safety data sheets; additionally, by means of “assessment by class + identification by grade + detection by batch”, it makes hazard risk analysis and centralized inspection as per regional distribution of warehouses and danger classes of chemicals, with the aim of efficient processing under secure control.

From January till May, Hefei Customs inspected import and export dangerous chemicals totaling 2,955 batches, 104,000 tons and 1.791 billion yuan worth, finding 22 batches substandard in warning information and packaging; the substandard ones were released only after their corrections to ensure their safety.
