In recent years, power generation enterprises in eastern Guangdong Province have a greater demand for imported coal. To support their production and ensure local power supply, Chaoyang Customs House( affiliated to Shantou Customs District) has rolled out several measures such as “5+2”workdays, processing upon request, and inspection/release alongside cargo ship. Since 2014, Chaoyang Customs House has been in active support of Huaneng Haimen Power Plant to construct a coal transit base. With the project already put into operation, Shantou Port is further improved in the functions of concentration and radiation. In the first half of 2015, the coal transit base received 49 ships with imported coal, a 19.5 percent jump over the same period of last year; achieved a total handling capacity of 5,642,431 tons (including the coal consumed by Haimen power plant and the coal transited by Guangdong Fuel Company), with imported coal increased by 16.7 percent.
