Qingdao Customs Seizes 16 Undeclared Pieces of Gold Products

At 13:00 of July 29, when exercising control over inward passengers from a Japanese flight, Liuting Airport Customs(affiliated to Qingdao Customs) officers found out two Chinese passengers bringing 6 pieces of luggage inward without declaration. Through X-ray inspection, the officers found out several pieces of high-density metal ware in their luggage. After unpacking, 16 pieces of gold products were seized. According to invoice information, these gold products were purchased from a gold shop in Tokyo, weighing 7,640 grams, worth 40.96 million Japanese yen(about CNY2.63 million).

 

The Customs reminds that gold and gold products are restricted inward and outward articles, more than 50 grams of gold and gold products are required to declare to the Customs in written form. If the quantity exceeds proper personal use, the import or export should go through clearance formalities as cargos. If a carrier conceals or falsely declares them or tries to evade customs control by other means, he or she should be penalized by the Customs according to the law. If the carrier smuggles, he or she should be subjected to legal liability.
