Guangzhou Customs Quarantines and Releases Hong Kong Racehorses to Conghua Racecourse in an Integrated Manner
07/20/2018

Customs officers conduct clearance procedures for the inbound racehorses.

On July 12, when the first 21 racehorses from Hong Kong Jockey Club arrived at Conghua Horse Training Center in Guangdong Province, Conghua Customs House (subordinate to Guangzhou Customs District) immediately conducted an onsite integrated process of inspection, quarantine and release over those horses.

The horse racecourse located in Conghua, Guangzhou is a key project under Guangdong-Hong Kong cooperation framework. The migration of on-service racehorses from Hong Kong Sha Tin racecourse to the Conghua racecourse is significant for integrating equestrian sports industry into the development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Conghua Customs House coordinated in advance with Huanggang Customs House (subordinate to Shenzhen Customs District) on customs transfer of the racehorses, used a new-launched special online system to supervise the overall cross-border transport of the racehorses, and carried out the “single inspection” based on customs-quarantine integration, thus making the clearance time shortened by more than 30%.

“The first cross-border transport of racehorses has been smoothly finished, providing valuable experiences for our future control over such transport in a regular and large-scale manner. On the next stage, we will further improve our intelligent clearance for the horse migration between Guangdong and Hong Kong, ensuring higher efficiency and security of the clearance,” said Xie Zhitao, Director of Conghua Customs House.
