Customs seizure of coral jewelry in inbound post
Recently, Qingdao Customs-affiliated Post Office seized undeclared coral jewelry in 4 inbound parcels (sent to one recipient), including 276 grams of red coral and 132 grams of black coral ornaments. At present, this case is under further investigation.
Red and black corals, both as first-class protected wild animals in China, are subject to restrictions on import and export. Thus, their import must go through customs formalities on the strength of Import Permit issued by the Endangered Species Import and Export Management Office of China.
