Imported breeding chicks under quarantine
On February 19, when 16,600 live breeding chicks from New Zealand, transited via Shanghai Pudong Airport, arrived at the quarantine station of Jiangsu Jinghai Poultry Industry Company, Nantong Customs House (subordinate to Nanjing Customs District) began to conduct 30-days quarantine over the inbound chicks.
Considering the cumbersome procedures and high risks in the quarantine, Nantong Customs took advance actions to track services and prepare for the processes. Particularly, they helped the Company optimize the working system and facilities of the quarantine station, making plans for any possible emergencies, as per the quarantine requirements; on the other hand, they strictly implemented the regulations on lab testing items and techniques, so as to prevent epidemics from getting in or out and ensure the health and safety of the inbound chicks.
Reportedly, the import can effectively alleviate the shortage of breeding chicks in Jiangsu province and help the development of broiler breeding industry in China.
