Customs seizure of the amber beads smuggled in
On August 14, Tengchong Customs House in Kunming Customs District seized a number of amber suspected of being smuggled in from Burma. All the amber were in the form of beads, unpolished and differently sized, totaling 97.72 kilograms in net weight.
According to the Customs officers, those amber beads were smuggled inward by two Burmese women bypassing the Customs checkpoints. At present, the smuggling case is under further investigation.
