Nanning Customs Returns Illegally-Imported Waste 1,556.12 Tons
01/11/2019

Customs officers inspect the solid waste in the field.

Under the control of Fangcheng Customs House subordinate to Nanning Customs District, a ship with 1,556.12 tons of illegally-imported waste exited from the port of Fangcheng on January 7, returning to Vietnam.

This batch of illegally-imported waste originated from a smuggling case that was seized by Fangcheng Customs in 2018, when they were declared as “zinc oxide powder” from Vietnam and officially identified as the solid waste prohibited from import. To avoid port environmental pollution by the waste, the Customs actively coordinated relevant parties in advancing the return process.

Additionally, in order to prevent the re-entry of the returned waste via other ports, Fangcheng Customs kept tracking the carrying ship by using information equipment such as ship info web (www.shipxy.com) and onboard voyage data recorder.
