Customs seizure of carried-in bird’s nests

At Dongxing Customs House subordinate to Nanning Customs District, a foreign passenger was intercepted on December 23 for illegally carrying 50 boxes of bird’s nests (totaling 5 kilograms ) inbound. Now this case is under further investigation by the anti-smuggling department.

As per the “Catalogue of Animals, Plants, Animal and Plant Products and Other Quarantine Objects Prohibited from being Carried or Posted into China”, bird’s nest is prohibited from being carried in. Since this year, Dongxing Customs has seized 56 batches of bird’s nests that were carried in, totally weighing 43.5 kilograms, most of which were raw nests or nude dried ones without manufacture ID.
