From January to October this year, the port of Huanghua (in Hebei Province) imported 6 batches of live beef cattle (for slaughter) from Australia, totaling 11,831 in number, the largest import quantity of beef cattle in China.
Since this import project was launched at Huanghua port earlier this year, Shijiazhuang Customs District has worked out specific entry quarantine program, in-transit escorting program, and relevant contingency plans. During the quarantine over the imported cattle, the Customs assigned veterinarians to 24-hours control onsite, taking intensive measures for epidemic prevention, disinfection and animal welfare management, and kept collaboration with agricultural and animal husbandry administrations in supervising relevant companies to obey quarantine regulations.
Due to the Customs support, the import trade has been going on well, thus creating local economic benefits in tens of millions of Yuan and enabling more domestic consumers to enjoy original Australian beef.
