On July 25, when a consignment of king crabs from Russia was imported into the Dagang wharf at the port of Qingdao, local Customs officers immediately conducted clearance through a special green channel so that these live crabs were timely delivered onto the domestic market.
According to the importer—Shandong Oriental Seagull Trading Company Ltd., China’s import duties and excise tax have been reduced in recent years to the benefit of importers and, regarding live king crabs, their duty was reduced from 14% to 7% and VAT reduced from 13% to 9%; this consignment, totaling 3.45 tons of crabs, was imported with tax cut of 58,000 yuan, thus giving direct profit to domestic consumers.
