On May 21, when two foreign fishing-boats, with 126 crew-members onboard, reached a shipyard at the Dalian port for their repairing, local customs officers immediately conducted inspection and quarantine aboard both boats, including novel-coronavirus nucleic acid test on all crew-members.
Dalian, a major base for ship building and repairing, undertakes most of maintenance and repairing for foreign vessels in north China.
In order to ensure the repairing business during the anti-epidemic period, Dalian Gangwan Customs House made risk analyses in advance when getting the entry plan of the two fishing-boats. Before the arrival of the boats, the Customs collected their information on traveling routes, crew changes and health status to assess the epidemic risk; after their berthing at the quay, the Customs, as per risk assessment results and shipowner applications, made onboard quarantine including body-temperature detection, epidemiological survey, medical examination, and virus nucleic acid test by nasopharyngeal swabs on all crew members; during the repairing process, the Customs kept remote video monitoring on crew-members’ health status and regularly checked the boarding records for the purpose of risk control.
