Zhanjiang Customs, by collaborating with local Public Security Bureau, cracked a smuggling case of rare animal products in Leizhou City on March 25. The officers captured one criminal suspect and seized the smuggled products including 1.16 kilograms of rhino horns (in the form of blocks, pieces and powder) and 33.13 kilograms of other products such as tiger bones, antelope horns, bear galls, and musk.
Through investigation, the criminal suspect earlier smuggled these rare animal products inward across China-Vietnam border, then mailed them to Leizhou, to make medicinal liquor with the products for sale.
Since this year, amid intensive efforts in COVID-19 control, Zhanjiang Customs has been cracking down on the smuggling of wild animals and relevant products, and has seized many rare products such as ivory, dried sea horses, red coral, and rhino horns.
