Customs seizure of waste polyethylene wax
On September 13, a solid-waste identification agency confirmed that 24 tons of polyethylene wax, earlier seized by Ningbo Customs, belongs to the solid waste under China’s prohibition from import.
Earlier, a company declared to Ningbo Customs for the import of “Polyethylene Wax (PEW)”. Through Customs inspection, the officers suspected the goods to be a mixture of leftovers and recycled materials from manufacture; then the officers immediately sent the sample to the identification agency.
As per China’s regulatory catalog of import waste (no. 39 of 2017), those PEW is listed into the chemical waste mainly of organic ingredients, thus being prohibited from import.
Later, Ningbo Customs conducted outward return of the waste PEW.
