Customs seizure of the IPR-infringing jewelry boxes
On August 1, the Chinese agent of VAN CLEEF & ARPELS, a French luxury brand, identified with Gongbei Customs that 12,540 branded jewelry boxes, earlier seized by the Customs, are infringing on the French IPR (intellectual property right).
On July 27, an export consignment was declared to Zhongshan Customs House subordinate to Gongbei Customs District. Through cargo inspection, Customs officers found therein those jewelry boxes printed with “VAN CLEEF & ARPELS” trademark, which was suspected of infringing the trademark right registered with China Customs.
At present, Zhongshan Customs House has detained all those jewelry boxes for further investigation.
