Hangzhou Customs Helps 8 Inbound Dolphins from Japan
03/13/2019

Customs officers make physical examination of the dolphins.

On March 4, when Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport received a chartered airplane carrying 8 dolphins from Japan, the Customs immediately conducted import clearance for the dolphins.

Considering time urgency of the clearance, Xiaoshan Airport Customs House (subordinate to Hangzhou Customs District) assigned a special workgroup to make the control plan, delimit and disinfect the inspection area, instruct relevant businesses in their declaration, deal with their advance declaration so as to release the dolphins within the minimal time. On the arrival of the airplane, the Customs officers quarantined the plane, the inspection area and a transporting lorry to detect the risk of epidemic transmission and then, after getting all normal results, allowed the dolphins to be carried away by the lorry. The whole process only took 55 minutues.

Reportedly, the imported dolphins will settle down in an ocean park in Hangzhou City and, after staying 30 days in a quarantine station, they will be shown to the public.
